I know this will sound harsher and more negative than I mean it to be, but I can see why this book was free on Kindle.
I found the writing style a little too sloppy and immature for what I was looking for. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure I would have absolutely loved it… if I’d read it back when I originally started reading ghost stories as a teen. I just found the tone and outlay a little too immature for what I was after. The stories really weren’t that creepy, the similes were a little too grating and frequent and, all in all, I didn’t enjoy this book of short stories.
Though, if it was aimed more for a YA or NA audience, I can see it doing well as a way to entice that age group of readers into the genre with a free book and encourage them to purchase more from this series or author. If this is the case, best of luck to Mr Bennington!
